The Enlighten laser platform uses picosecond duration pulses, the biggest advancement in laser technology in the past 20 years. Each pulse lasts only a trillionth of a second, delivering powerful energy to the ink while minimizing damage to the surrounding tissue. Ink particles are shattered into a fine mist, allowing your body’s immune system to process it out naturally. Picosecond lasers have been proven to remove tattoos faster and more effectively than other laser treatments.
Unlike some platforms, Enlighten can be safely used on any skin type or area of the body. Additionally, this laser technology can treat all of the most popular tattoo colors, including black, dark blue, red, brown, yellow, and orange.
Every tattoo is unique. The size, color, age, depth, placement, and many other factors will all be factored into your customized treatment plan.
On average, tattoos can be removed in four to eight treatments, all spaced approximately six to eight weeks apart. The number of treatments depends on the amount and type of ink used, as well as the depth of permeation.

Immediately as the laser light touches the ink, the color blanches reflecting the release of carbon dioxide. Soon this is replaced by redness, swelling, slight blistering, a little itching, and raised areas & small spots of micro blood. The area is sensitive to touch & tender. We usually advise the patient to keep moist with ALL Purpose Polysporin ointment. This can last 1-2 weeks.
You will notice the fading of the tattoo as you progress in time & you approach your next treatment session. Eventually, you achieve your goal of erasing the past!
Most describe the sensation as the snap of a rubber band in the skin. We provide appropriate cooling techniques to facilitate your comfort. Topical or local anesthetics are usually not routinely implemented.
Dr. Kelada-Sedra and her team are always available for follow-up appointments in the following weeks to ensure proper healing and the desired result. After each tattoo removal session, an antibacterial ointment and dressing will be applied. The treated area should be kept clean, and Dr. Kelada-Sedra will give each patient exact instructions for the days after treatment. Routinely patients are seen every 6-8 weeks & as needed in between.
